Will the panel of detectable HPV viruses be extended?

• NO! The present virus panel is covering more than 98% of all cervical cancers, screened for the presence of HPVs so far. A comparison of the HPV panels with other kits (E.g. Genomica, Roche) shows, that the extended HPV panels of those manufacturers is due to the inclusion of a bigger panel of low risk types. Only HPV 26 (detectable only by Roche and/or Genomica) may be an HPV type, which may be considered high risk. However, from the epidimiologic point of view, it is absolutely neglegtible.
