When "Microlon" (like "Microlon 600") appears in the description for a plate, does it mean that the plate is coated with a substance called "Microlon 600"? If not, what does it mean?

  • In general, immunonolgical microplates from Greiner Bio-One are not coated.

MICROLON“ are immunological products made of clear polystyrene for transmission measurements.

When “FLUOTRAC” appears in the description of a microplate that means that the plate is an immunological product made of black polystyrene for fluorescence measurements.

LUMITRAC” are immunological products made of white polystyrene for luminescence measurements.

With “600” high binding polystyrene surfaces are labelled. High binding microplates are hydrophilised using a special method of physical treatment. They display a higher binding capacity for polar molecules. Medium binding microplates have a more hydrophobic surface than high binding plates and are therefore better suited for non-polar molecules. Medium binding plates are labelled with “200”.
