Which is the appropriate pore size selection for a migration assay?
Relative to the size of the investigated cells, the size of the pores in the membrane must be small enough to avoid the passive passage of cells, but large enough to allow their active migration. Customarily, 3 µm-pores are applied for small cells such as leukocytes or leukemic cells (e.g. HL60)and 8 µm-pores are applied for larger cells such as epithelial and tumor cells (e.g. HT1080).
