Cell and Tissue Culture
Answers to your questions on the topic Cell and Tissue Culture can be found here.

Can cells be grown on tissue culture inserts for use in transmission electron microscopy? Which type of insert is recommended for this application?

  • ThinCert cell culture inserts are well suited for use in transmission electron microscopy. In principle each pore size and pore density may be used (0.4 µm, 1.0 µm, 3.0 µm, 8.0 µm, translucent and transparent membranes). For choice of the appropriate membrane type please be aware that large pores (3.0 µm and 8.0 µm) allow cells to migrate, whereas small pores prevent transmembrane cell migration. The utilized pore size and density should be selected based on the requirements of your cell culture and scientific question of interest.
